Position Overview:
This role is integral to the financial operations within the University System of Maryland. The Accountant will be responsible for providing essential accounting support to ensure the smooth functioning of the administrative office.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Manage the fixed asset inventory for compliance with relevant policies and prepare regular updates for financial statements.
  2. Assist in the preparation of comprehensive financial reports for both the USMO and USM.
  3. Support the administration of endowment funds, including invoicing and collections.
  4. Conduct financial and compliance reporting for affiliated foundations, ensuring all documentation is accurate and timely.
  5. Process cash receipts and expense reports, monitor accounts, and assist with various financial management tasks.

Qualifications:
Education: A degree in Accounting or related field, with CPA certification or eligibility to sit for the CPA exam.

Experience: A minimum of one year in accounting or auditing, with a focus on financial reporting in either public accounting or corporate settings.

Skills and Competencies:
Strong written and verbal communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and adeptness with personal computing.

Preferred Experience:
Two or more years in public accounting or financial reporting roles.
