Rigger Job Description

Crofton Construction Svc Inc is seeking a skilled Rigger to join our team in the Crane and Rigging Division. As a Rigger, you will work under the supervision of the Project Manager to ensure safe and efficient lifting operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Attach loads to rigging equipment and prepare it for movement.
  • Select, inspect, and maintain rigging equipment to ensure proper operation.
  • Guide lifts using hand signals, chain-falls, and other equipment to maneuver loads over, under, or around obstacles.
  • Tilt, dip, and turn suspended loads to position them correctly.
  • Inspect rigging prior to lift to ensure safety and efficiency.
  • Fabricate, set up, and repair rigging, supporting structures, hoists, and pulling gear.
  • Repair lift equipment as needed.
  • Ability to read instructions and interpret job information to perform proper lifts.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1-2 years experience with rigging in a construction environment.
  • Signalman 1 qualification.
  • Rigger 1 qualification.
Desired Qualifications:
  • 2-4 years experience with rigging in a construction environment (preferably marine construction).
  • Rigger 2 qualification.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like.
  • Exposure to construction and marine site dangers.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment.
  • Ability to see and respond to dangerous situations.
  • Noisy environments.
  • Ability to respond quickly to sounds.

Able to traverse all areas of the jobsite in all types of weather; this may require walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.
