We are in search of Operating Room RNs for an immediate travel nursing position. The ideal candidate should possess 1-2 years of recent acute care experience, specifically as a circulating nurse, scrub nurse, or potentially as an RN first assistant. Below are additional expectations for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

As an OR Travel Nurse, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Providing essential bedside care to surgical patients.
  • Preparing, administering, and documenting prescribed medications while reporting any adverse reactions.
  • Acting as a communication link between patients' families and the surgical team.
  • Ensuring that the correct surgical procedures are performed on the appropriate patients.
  • Initiating and executing patient education plans as directed by the physician, including teaching patients and families about medication management and home care.
Additional Duties:

For Circulating OR Nurses, responsibilities may also include:

  • Addressing the comfort and safety needs of patients.
  • Accurate handling and care of surgical specimens.
  • Monitoring surgical equipment throughout procedures.
  • Conducting inventory of surgical items before and after procedures.

For Scrub OR Nurses, additional tasks may involve:

  • Selecting and managing surgical instruments and supplies during operations.
  • Conducting inventory of surgical items pre- and post-procedure.

For RN First Assistants, responsibilities may encompass:

  • Assisting surgeons by providing direct surgical care.
  • Managing bleeding during procedures.
  • Suturing patients post-surgery.

As an OR Travel Nurse, you should be prepared for physical demands, including standing and walking for extended periods, as well as lifting patients when necessary. RNs may encounter exposure to various chemicals or infectious materials in the operating room setting.

Qualifications:

Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, with a minimum of 2 years of experience.

Note: Additional certifications may be required prior to starting an assignment.
