The role merges Infrastructure Site Reliability with Storage, emphasizing automation and platform engineering, where you will establish the 'golden paths' for the development team to deploy their code effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the subject matter expert (SME) for all storage environments.
  • Design, construct, and continually enhance the performance, availability, and operational efficiency of our storage platform.
  • Work alongside storage operations teams on escalated issues.
  • Facilitate workshops, generate documentation, and develop tools that empower the operations team to efficiently address support requests and manage the storage environment.
  • Contribute to both public and internal documentation to maximize your impact and enhance the customer experience.
  • Collaborate with observability teams to refine telemetry and log collection, add new dashboards, and create alerts.
  • Identify automation opportunities and develop automated solutions or partner with our DevOps Team to create effective solutions.

  • Expertise in storage systems design.
  • Familiarity with Linux or Unix-based environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of Linux filesystems and storage drivers.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Storage Engineer or in a similar capacity.
  • Experience with IBM PowerVC is essential.
  • Experience managing complex, multi-tenant environments is required.
  • Production experience with OpenStack environments is preferred.
  • Experience with IBM AIX is advantageous.
  • Extensive experience in optimizing and tuning storage systems for specialized or demanding workloads (e.g., Oracle, SAP).
  • Experience managing distributed systems in a production setting.
