Job Title: Bartender

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Bartender to join our team at Spare Time Entertainment in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide Exceptional Guest Service: Interact with guests in a professional and friendly manner, utilizing Spare Time Service Standards (Code S.E.R.V.E.).
  • Serve with Precision: Utilize Spare Time Entertainment's Steps of Service to ensure efficient and accurate service.
  • Menu Knowledge: Demonstrate a thorough understanding of all menus and make informed suggestions to guests.
  • Location Expert: Promote knowledge of the location's features and upcoming events to enhance the guest experience.
  • Mixology Mastery: Mix, garnish, and serve alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks for patrons of the bar and dining room, adhering to standard recipes and Spare Time Entertainment's recipe and pouring guidelines.
  • Table Preparation: Observe and assist in preparing unoccupied tables for guests by wiping surface tops, removing debris, and ensuring seats are clean and orderly.
  • Table Busing: Bus tables in the restaurant area and return used dishes to the dish washing area.
  • Food Preparation: Assist with food preparation when necessary.
  • Food Safety: Adhere to all food safety and quality regulations.
  • Waste Control: Assist with waste control.
  • Guest Needs: Patrol assigned sections to respond to guests' needs and take action to correct any concerns.
  • Intoxication Awareness: Recognize signs of intoxication and take appropriate actions with intoxicated guests.
  • POS System Expertise: Confidently operate the POS System, making accurate transactions, providing guests with their bill, collecting payments, and making change.
  • Shift Paperwork: Provide all required complimentary shift paperwork with settlement in a consistent and organized manner.
  • Opening and Closing Duties: Complete shift opening and closing duties.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintain clean equipment and working areas by following the restaurant's preventative maintenance programs and adhering to Local, State, and Federal Health Department Codes.
  • Inventory Management: Keep products and areas organized and restocked as needed.
  • Inventory Shortages: Communicate any inventory shortages to supervisors.
  • Certifications: Maintain current certifications required by state and those offered by Spare Time Entertainment.
  • Company Violations: Report all company violations to management.
  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma preferred.
  • Experience: 2+ years of previous waitstaff and/or bartending experience preferred.
  • Certifications: SERVSafe and/or TIPS certification preferred or required if mandated by the state.
Work Environment:
  • Noise Level: The noise level can be loud and may contain lighting effects such as lasers and strobes.
  • Working with Crowds: This job requires working with large crowds and children.
Physical Demands:
  • Physical Abilities: Able to stand and walk for extended periods of time and able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Long Hours: This position regularly requires long hours and frequent weekend work.
