We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Protection Specialist to join our team at the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management. As a key member of our Environmental Programs Office, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effective management of our nation's offshore resources while protecting the environment.
Key Responsibilities- Advise senior leaders on environmental protection, assessment, review, and research with a focus on environmental justice responsibilities and partnerships.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with federal agencies, communities, tribes, and public and private organizations to advance environmental protection goals.
- Ensure that environmental justice concerns are adequately identified and addressed in Bureau policy decisions, including those impacting tribal nations, Native Hawaiian, and other indigenous communities.
- Provide support in developing and implementing partnership agreements, such as memoranda of understanding or cooperative agreements.
- Develop and implement the Bureau's environmental justice strategy and action plan.
- Conduct environmental justice analyses and outreach, using policy expertise to evaluate environmental issues and recommend effective solutions.
- Identify and assess relevant data and information concerning energy, mineral, and carbon sequestration activities on the Outer Continental Shelf as they relate to environmental justice impacts.
- Facilitate the recommendation and oversight of studies essential for addressing environmental justice concerns at the programmatic level.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must be subject to a background/suitability investigation/determination.
- Must have federal payments made by direct deposit.
- Must submit all required documents and a completed questionnaire.
- Must meet the specialized experience requirements for the GS-14 level.
To qualify for this position, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience in navigating and engaging with processes related to environmental protection, building and maintaining coalitions and networks related to environmental protection or environmental justice, and fostering and maintaining collaboration to advance environmental protection goals.
