About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Mammography Technologist to join our team at Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for performing high-quality mammography exams and procedures, working closely with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate diagnoses and effective patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Perform mammographic imaging exams on patients, including screening and diagnostic mammograms, wire localizations, ductograms, cyst aspirations, and core biopsies.
  • Assist radiologists with breast ultrasound exams and provide education to patients regarding exam procedures.
  • Calculate and select proper technical factors, operate equipment as required, and properly identify images by verifying patient demographics.
  • Acquire images that meet department quality standards and ensure all images are transmitted to the PACS system.
  • Maintain working knowledge and perform accurate data entry into hospital and department electronic medical records.
  • Provide radiation protection to patients in accordance with ALARA principles and department policy.
  • Assist physicians in performance of invasive procedures, prepare medications, and ensure supplies are available for procedures.
  • Instruct, advise, and assist Radiologic Technology students in performing mammographic exams.
  • Perform duties such as transporting, transferring, immobilizing, and positioning patients.
Requirements
  • Graduated from an approved school of Radiologic Technology.
  • Valid Massachusetts license as a Radiologic Technologist in the category of Radiography.
  • Valid Massachusetts license in the category of mammography in addition to radiography.
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • 2-3 years experience as a radiologic technologist.
  • Knowledgeable with quality control tests and regulations, including MQSA, ARC, and Mass State mammography regulations.
