Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Substance Abuse Prevention Coordinator to join our team at Steamboat Springs School District RE-2. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive tobacco and nicotine prevention policies, as well as providing cessation support to students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement evidence-based tobacco and nicotine prevention policies and programs for students, staff, and families.
  • Provide cessation support to students, including referrals to evidence-based programs and one-on-one coaching.
  • Build relationships with students, parents, and community members to promote prevention and cessation efforts.
  • Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and staff to integrate prevention and cessation efforts into the school curriculum and daily operations.
  • Develop and implement professional development opportunities for staff on tobacco and nicotine prevention and cessation.
  • Track and analyze data on tobacco and nicotine use among students and staff, and use this data to inform prevention and cessation efforts.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as education, health education, or counseling.
  • Colorado Department of Education teacher license with K-12 Health endorsement or equivalent certification.
  • Experience working with students, families, and community members on tobacco and nicotine prevention and cessation efforts.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to collaboration and partnership-building.
