About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Stormwater and Utility Engineer III to join our team at HNTB. As a key member of our engineering team, you will play a critical role in leading the design and development of stormwater management and utility projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and development of stormwater management and utility projects, ensuring effective and sustainable solutions that mitigate flooding and optimize utility networks.
  • Direct the design of stormwater management systems, including the rational method and TR-55 design manual.
  • Collaborate with project teams to develop project specifications and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to less experienced engineers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality project elements and deliverables.
  • Perform quality control reviews of discipline-specific engineering project elements and deliverables.
  • Assist in the coordination and planning of schedules, hours, and distribution of work within the discipline.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Engineering and 3 years of relevant experience, or PhD in Engineering and 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Practical experience with stormwater design standards, including the rational method and TR-55 design manual.
  • Practical experience with utility design standards and practice, including water supply and wastewater.
  • Permitting experience, as support or lead, with local, state, and federal authorities, related to stormwater and flood management.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Engineering.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
  • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification (depending on discipline).
