Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly qualified Pediatric Hospitalist to join our team at VCU Health - MCV Physicians. As a pediatric hospitalist, you will provide direct clinical care to children with acute or chronic diseases and those with special healthcare needs.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing teaching and mentorship to medical students, residents, and fellows. They will also serve on hospital or departmental committees and engage in professional activities through journal review, conference presentations, and national organization committee work.

This is a part-time clinical equivalent effort (cFTE) position, requiring the physician to work the requisite number of days, evenings, weekends, and provide offsite/home overnight call as designated by the Chief of the Division.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct clinical care to children with acute or chronic diseases and those with special healthcare needs
  • Teach and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows
  • Serve on hospital or departmental committees
  • Engage in professional activities through journal review, conference presentations, and national organization committee work
  • Participate in quality and safety initiatives via independent study and hospital committee work

Requirements:

  • Board certification in pediatrics or internal medicine-pediatrics
  • Eligibility for medical licensure in Virginia
  • Drug Enforcement Agency licensure
  • Credentialing at VCUH required
  • Demonstrated experience in collaboration with diverse hospital team members

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two or more years of clinical experience in pediatric hospital medicine
  • Certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Completion of Pediatric Fellowship training preferred but not required
  • Prior leadership experience or program development in pediatric hospital medicine

Compensation:

$120,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
