We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Worker to join our team at Service Corporation International. As a Maintenance Worker, you will be responsible for ensuring the grounds and facilities at our cemetery and funeral home locations are well-maintained and visually appealing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Grounds Maintenance
    • Maintain the appearance of the cemetery and funeral home grounds, including mowing grass, plowing snow, watering lawns, fertilizing and trimming shrubs, and tending to flower beds.
    • Operate lawn and grounds equipment, including push and power mowers, snow blowers, weed eaters, and leaf blowers.
  • Debris Removal
    • Remove debris and trash from the grounds, including turning down vases and removing wilted flowers.
  • Team Participation
    • Participate in teams for openings and closings for interments, entombments, and inurnments.
  • Specialized Tasks
    • May perform disinterment, determine the location and layout of individual graves with assistance, and comply with verification procedures.
    • May perform minor repairs to the cemetery and building systems.
    • May assist in moving and installing burial vaults.
  • Regulatory Compliance
    • Must follow safety rules and ensure compliance with corporate, federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA regulations and Safety and Environmental guidelines.

Requirements

  • Education
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience
    • Minimum 6 months relevant experience.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Ability to operate hand-held tools and equipment, including shovels, picks, rakes, sledge hammers, lawn mowers, weed trimmers, and leaf blowers.
    • Ability to accurately use measuring devices, such as tape measures and yardsticks.
    • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.
    • Physically agile and dexterous.
    • Ability to operate equipment in a safe and careful manner.
    • Ability to effectively work with others to accomplish tasks.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with associates, contractor personnel, and client families.
    • Basic computer skills to enable retrieving and responding to email communications.
    • Bilingual in Spanish.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary: $16.00/hr - $20.00/hr.
