This role involves maintaining an efficient workflow, assisting in portable examinations, and performing clerical tasks such as answering calls and entering data into the system. Additionally, the intern will transport patients to and from the imaging area while ensuring a clean and organized environment.

Key Responsibilities:


• Uphold the standards of the OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.

• Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of human anatomy, positioning, and radiographic imaging principles for approved procedures.

• Adhere to universal precautions and infection control protocols with every patient, ensuring proper disposal of contaminated materials.

• Ensure accurate patient identification by consistently verifying ID bracelets and identifiers before conducting exams.

• Follow departmental protocols when transporting patients, safeguarding them from potential harm and ensuring their privacy and comfort.

• Introduce oneself to patients, explain procedures, and treat them with dignity and respect, while documenting necessary information and preparing the environment for exams.

• Process and send images to PACS within a timely manner, ensuring they are ready for review.

• Maintain a smooth workflow within the department to provide timely care and maximize productivity while ensuring quality standards are met.

• Keep precise records of all examinations, entering data accurately into the RIS and PACS systems immediately after completion.

• Assess patient conditions before, during, and after procedures.

• Complete all assigned tasks by the end of the shift, ensuring rooms are cleaned, restocked, and documentation is finalized.

• Assist technologists in moving and preparing patients for examinations, including portable studies.

• Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding any issues or concerns.

• Comply with regulations set forth by CMS, TJC, ACR, and TDSHS, reporting any violations to the department supervisor.

• Demonstrate responsible use of hospital property, following manufacturer guidelines and reporting any equipment issues promptly.

• Adhere to hospital policies regarding attendance, appearance, safety, and infection control measures.

• Follow CHRISTUS Health Guidelines related to HIPAA to protect patient information.

• Complete all required educational assignments in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; currently enrolled in an accredited Radiology Technology program.
  • Previous experience in a hospital setting is preferred.
  • American Heart Association BLS certification is required.
  • TMB Non-Certified Radiology Technician status is required.
