The Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) is dedicated to providing specialized care for patients undergoing cardiovascular surgical procedures. Our nursing staff is equipped with advanced critical thinking and assessment skills, enabling them to effectively manage patients with acute health challenges. The team consists of Registered Nurses (RNs), Nurse Technicians (NTs), and Clinical Assistants (CAs), all under the guidance of a Clinical Nurse Manager and an Associate Clinical Manager during off-hours. Our unit is supported by a team of Surgical/Anesthesia Intensivists, Cardiovascular Surgeons, and Advanced Practice Providers, ensuring comprehensive care around the clock.

Role Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse (RN) will utilize the nursing process framework to deliver high-quality patient care, emphasizing patient-family centered principles. Responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and discharging patients in accordance with established policies and procedures. The RN will collaborate with patients and families to incorporate their input into care planning and develop effective educational strategies, ensuring proper documentation of all patient interactions.

Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Nursing is mandatory.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required within five years of hire.
- Candidates from non-accredited nursing programs must have a minimum of one year of acute care experience or two years in a licensed healthcare role, along with successful completion of the NCLEX.
- Current Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license is essential.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification must be obtained within six months of hire.
- Specialty certification is highly recommended within two years.
