Key Responsibilities
The Surgical Advanced Nurse Practitioner in Gynaecology will be an integral part of the gynaecology surgical team, ensuring the following responsibilities are executed consistently and to a high standard:
- Manage gynaecology surgical patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings, in collaboration with the surgical team.
- Conduct advanced clinical assessments, initiate care and treatment plans, and monitor disease progression and treatment effectiveness.
- Serve as a highly specialized role model and leader for all staff members.
- Contribute significantly to the ongoing development of services within the Trust and potentially participate in various trust patient experience, quality, and process improvement initiatives.
Detailed Responsibilities
- Act as a clinical expert both within and outside the Trust, disseminating specialized skills and knowledge to others.
- Handle complex and sensitive information, communicating it professionally and compassionately to patients and their families.
- Network with multidisciplinary colleagues in the field and represent the Trust at regional and national conferences and working groups as appropriate.
- Maintain effective communication with all members of the multidisciplinary team and other departments.

- First level registration.
- First level degree in a relevant specialty.
- MSc or progress towards a relevant subject.
- Relevant formal teaching or mentoring experience.

- Advanced physical assessment qualification.

Flu Vaccination – Expectations for Staff
At The Royal Marsden, we care for an immune-compromised patient population that requires protection against the flu virus. Seasonal flu can affect thousands in the UK, primarily during winter, and can lead to severe or even fatal outcomes.
The wellbeing of our staff and patients is paramount, and it is expected that all patient-facing staff receive an annual flu vaccination, provided at no cost by the Trust.
