Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at Precision Castparts Corp. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing manufacturing processes to ensure the achievement of daily, weekly, and quarterly performance goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and implement process improvements to deliver achievement of performance metrics in safety, quality, throughput, delinquencies, productivity, first pass yield, and variable cost.
  • Assemble teams to determine root cause of top failure modes, implement corrective actions, and conduct follow-up to ensure compliance and continued achievement of performance targets.
  • Partner with manufacturing, quality, engineering, maintenance, and purchasing leaders to manage, direct, and coordinate process activities to maximize productivity and minimize cost while achieving safety, quality, and throughput targets.
  • Establish sequencing, inspection criteria, tooling, gages, and fixtures needed to produce products that meet customer requirements.
  • Develop standard work instructions to improve safety, increase quality, reduce machine downtime, increase productivity, reduce scrap, and eliminate delinquencies.
  • Aid in developing and implementing capital improvement projects to provide cost savings and improve throughput.
  • Work closely with finance and materials management to ensure correct manufacturing costs, process routings, and bill of materials.
  • Ensure employees are trained on production procedures and practices.
  • Work with purchasing and suppliers to improve process reliability and lower costs.
  • Provide manufacturing expertise when problems arise.
  • Stay abreast of technological advancements and process improvements that may impact production.
  • Work with maintenance and manufacturing to ensure all equipment and machinery are set, maintained, and adjusted to continually produce high-quality products.
  • Maintain system documentation for processes and procedures.
  • Foster a Safety 24/7 culture and drive safety initiatives to ensure zero safety-related incidents annually.
Requirements
  • BS Degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • 2+ years machining experience preferred (e.g., Header, Roll Former, Chucker, CNC, Traub, Point, Shave, etc.).
  • Process improvement knowledge; Black Belt, Lean/Six Sigma Certification preferred.
  • Understanding of total quality management system and tools (systematic problem-solving through root cause analysis, process design for manufacturing and assembly, demand flow, bills of material structure, process plans, routings, and Value Stream Mapping).

  • Language: ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to verbally communicate effectively.
  • Mathematical: ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to apply basic concepts of algebra and geometry.
  • Reasoning Ability: ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Ability to read and interpret router instructions and specifications.
  • Properly use calipers, micrometers, and other gauge measuring tools.
  • Deadline-driven with strong bias toward results achievement; flexible with schedule and shifting priorities.

  • Effective verbal and written communication.
  • Interpersonal skills.
  • Intermediate to Advanced use of MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and QAD.
