About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Patient Care Technician to join our team at UT Health Athens. As a Patient Care Technician, you will work under the supervision of nursing and medical staff to provide high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and other ADLs.
  • Observe patients' progress and prepare reports for Registered Nurses or other medical staff.
  • Take patients' vital signs and collect specimens for lab tests.
  • Provide basic patient transport and housekeeping duties.
  • Measure and record patients' intake and output, assist with range of motion, and draw blood as needed.
  • Assist in providing treatments to patients, perform technical procedures such as feeding tube and catheter administration, suture/staple removal, splinting of extremities, and perform ECGs as ordered.
  • Coordinate daily activities for assigned units, including general clerical and administrative support, and participate in performance improvement activities.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Active certification in the State of Texas.
  • BLS certification within 30 days of hire or transfer.
  • Completion of approved CNA or PCT certification, or senior year of nursing school with less than one semester to complete the nursing program.

Preferred Requirements:

  • 5 years' experience in acute or long-term care.
