POSITION OVERVIEW

The role involves utilizing professional judgment and discretion to deliver psychiatric care to children and their families.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

To excel in this position, an individual must effectively manage each key responsibility. Reasonable accommodations may be provided to assist individuals with disabilities in fulfilling essential functions. Employees are expected to dedicate over 50% of their time to these responsibilities.

  1. Delivers psychiatric services within the defined scope of practice to children and families.
  2. Conducts psychiatric assessments for clients enrolled in Medi-Cal.
  3. Available for emergency consultations and will receive compensation for crisis interventions, ensuring coverage during absences.
  4. Collaborates with therapists, care coordinators, and other personnel regarding client treatment.
  5. Records mental health services in compliance with DMH standards.
  6. Oversees the development of the Client Treatment Plan (CTP) or equivalent objectives for psychiatric services and updates goals annually in partnership with the therapist.
  7. Completes all progress notes and required documentation as per agency policy within 48 hours.
  8. Implements any necessary corrections to progress notes and other documentation within 24 hours.
  9. Submits invoices for subcontracted services by the designated deadline.

SUPERVISORY DUTIES

  • This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE

  • Must possess an M.D. or D.O. from an accredited medical institution.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English is preferred.
  • Ability to manage confidential information effectively.
  • Ensures patient privacy by safeguarding the confidentiality and integrity of Protected Health Information (PHI).
  • Engages in and supports quality improvement initiatives in accordance with designated roles and responsibilities.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the service population.
  • Exhibits excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Maintains punctuality and reliable attendance.
  • Must be free from substance abuse.
  • Understands and actively participates in the mission of the organization.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS

  • Board Certification in Child Psychiatry is required.
  • Must have clearance from background investigations as mandated by the California Department of Justice.
  • Professional Liability Insurance or Malpractice coverage is necessary (Insurance Coverage Requirements: Professional Liability - $1M per occurrence/$3M aggregate).
  • Must possess a DEA license valid in the United States.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Covid-19 vaccination and booster are required as per state mandates.
  • Compliance with immunization requirements for influenza, MMR, and TDAP.
  • Background fingerprint clearance from the California Department of Social Services is necessary.
  • Drug and alcohol screening will be conducted.
  • Tuberculosis screening is required.
  • Verification of educational credentials will be performed.
  • Reference checks will be conducted.

COMPENSATION:

  • Hourly rate: $350.00 per billable hour of service, with potential earnings up to $150,000.00 annually, subject to discussion.
  • The expected pay range for this position is in accordance with California law, with actual compensation determined based on experience and other permissible factors.
