The Industrial Maintenance Specialist will operate with minimal oversight, responsible for the setup, adjustment, preventive upkeep, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of designated machinery, ensuring production efficiency and quality standards.
Core Responsibilities- Conduct preventive maintenance, regular inspections, and necessary repairs on assigned conveyor systems, automation technologies, robotics, and supplementary equipment.
- Perform routine diagnostics on non-operational equipment, resolving issues, serving as a point of escalation for junior technicians, and liaising with management or senior technicians as required. Maintain a detailed maintenance log for each production line.
- Record all activities in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and ticketing platforms, ensuring accurate documentation of operational logs for fire pumps, generators, HVAC systems, and other routinely tested facility systems.
- Guide maintenance staff in enhancing their skills and understanding of equipment.
- Assist maintenance technicians in tasks requiring additional personnel or when operational demands arise.
- Execute facility and building projects as assigned, including but not limited to light fixture replacements, door repairs, furniture assembly, ceiling tile changes, carpentry tasks, plumbing repairs, and maintaining operational logs.
- Assemble and test machinery to confirm proper operation and production efficiency. Analyze and document causes of production delays in daily reports and initiate corrective measures for equipment failures. Investigate defects and spoilage causes, implementing corrective actions to resolve issues.
- Capable of certifying on all industrial lifting equipment, including pickers, reaches, skates, booms, and scissor lifts.
- Oversee assigned projects, which may involve minor renovations, inventory management, contractor supervision, and enhancements to building efficiency.
- Supervise, evaluate, and monitor routine maintenance performed by junior engineers, providing guidance and training as necessary.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 5 years of experience in the repair and maintenance of conveyor systems, automation, or robotics.
- Associate's Degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, HVAC, or a related field.
- Completion of an apprenticeship program or possession of current trade certification.
- Fundamental understanding of machinery and equipment.
- Basic proficiency in various computer software, including Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with inputs, outputs, and PLC logic systems, along with troubleshooting capabilities.
- Willingness to travel up to 10% for business purposes.
- Must provide own essential hand tools.
- Open to learning new equipment as it becomes available.
- Physical capability to perform essential functions of the role.
- Ability to bend, twist, reach, push, and lift for extended periods daily.
- Frequently lift and carry supplies/equipment weighing up to 50 lbs, with occasional lifting of up to 75 lbs.
- Must be able to stand for a minimum of 8 hours, potentially up to 12 hours, for up to 6 days a week.
- Ability to ascend and descend ladders and stairs, work at heights, and perform tasks from various positions.
- Willingness to operate material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts).
- Proficient in writing documents and reports using writing instruments and computers.
- Ability to read information, often in small print (drawings).
- Adhere to safety protocols such as Lock Out/Tag Out, Arc Flash, etc., and utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while maintaining equipment to ensure a safe work environment.
- Availability for overtime and on-call requests as needed.
