HHW Technician

Job Summary:

This role is responsible for receiving, classifying, and packaging materials delivered to the county household hazardous waste collection program for proper disposal.

Key Responsibilities:

• Unload materials (hazardous & non-hazardous) from vehicles, while providing satisfactory customer service to all that are encountered
• Record, process, and store materials in their correct D.O.T. hazard class
• Operate packing/storing, recycling, transportation and other equipment used in handling household hazardous waste
• Prepare items for shipment for disposal per D.O.T. & KDHE requirements

Facility Maintenance:

Perform routine and basic maintenance on the facility and equipment. Clean the facility according to the set schedule of duties.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Minimal experience in handling household hazardous waste or any equivalent
• Valid State of Kansas Drivers License

Preferred Qualifications:

• 40 hour Haz-Woper, Forklift Certification, Standard First Aid, & CPR
