The Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse (PCU RN) plays a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care to individuals in telemetry and progressive care settings. This role requires the ability to make informed clinical decisions efficiently while working under the guidance of experienced professionals. The PCU RN is responsible for coordinating comprehensive patient care, adhering to established nursing standards, and supporting the healthcare team in managing patient needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Employs the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients in a progressive care environment.
- Conducts targeted interviews to ascertain the specific needs of patients.
- Monitors and assesses signs and symptoms that may indicate changes in the patient's physiological and psychosocial condition.
- Gathers, analyzes, and interprets relevant data to accurately document nursing diagnoses.
- Identifies and prioritizes interventions based on the requirements of patient care.
- Ensures a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients.
- Initiates and assesses educational efforts for patients and their families.
- Utilizes clinical judgment to evaluate and meet the care needs of patients.
Qualifications:
- Valid Registered Nurse License in the applicable state.
- A minimum of one year of professional nursing experience, preferably in a progressive care unit.
- Adherence to professional standards of nursing practice.
- Completion of the competency program as required by Amergis.
- Current certifications in CPR, along with necessary health documentation.
- Awareness of patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
