As a vital member of our healthcare team, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional patient care within a physician practice or clinic environment, under the guidance of a physician or mid-level practitioner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, medical history, and current medications.
- Prepare patients for examinations by obtaining necessary specimens, positioning them appropriately, and assisting during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- Administer medications and injections as prescribed by the healthcare provider.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, ensuring that exam rooms, treatment areas, and laboratories are well-stocked and organized.
- Document patient information accurately in the electronic medical record system.
- Provide patient education as directed, covering topics such as lab results, medication instructions, and follow-up care.
- Assist with referral authorizations and pre-authorizations for tests and services.
- Support laboratory procedures as needed.
Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program or a new graduate eligible for licensure.
- Experience: Preferred one year of experience in a physician's office setting.
- Licensure/Certification: Current Practical Nurse licensure in Virginia (LPN) is required. Additional certification as a Radiologic Technician Limited is necessary if performing radiology tasks. Current AHA BLS-HCP certification is also required.
Additional Skills:
- Strong customer service orientation with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to problem-solve and interact effectively with diverse individuals.
- Proficiency in using automated computer systems, including electronic medical records, with necessary keyboarding skills.
- Demonstrated organizational and time management abilities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
