Reports To: Supervisor/Director of Operations
Position Summary:
The Ambulette Driver is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of ambulette vehicles, ensuring high-quality care for patients during transport. This role includes various responsibilities and requires collaboration with supervisors for documentation and operational tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Vehicle Operations: Ensure the safe operation of ambulette vehicles, adhering to all relevant driving laws and regulations.
- Patient Care: Provide compassionate and safe transport for patients, ensuring their comfort and security throughout the journey.
- Documentation: Accurately record patient transport details and mileage, and report any incidents in compliance with company policies.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections of vehicles and equipment, ensuring all are in proper working order before and after shifts.
- Professional Conduct: Maintain a professional demeanor, representing Unity Ambulette Corp positively while interacting with patients, medical staff, and the community.
- Attendance: Adhere to company attendance policies, ensuring punctuality and reliability in all scheduled shifts.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Valid New York State Commercial Driver License C or higher with Passenger Endorsement (or eligibility to obtain prior to hire).
- Clean driving record.
- Compliance with N.Y.S. DOT 19A regulations for ambulette/school bus operation.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift, pull, carry, and handle weights of at least 150 lbs. Must be capable of various physical activities including sitting, standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
Work Environment:
Work may involve both indoor and outdoor settings, under various weather conditions, with exposure to patients in different health states.
