We are looking for a motivated and career-oriented professional to take on the role of Geotechnical Project Manager.

The Geotechnical Project Manager will oversee client relations and project management, ensuring the preparation of geotechnical engineering documentation, calculations, and specialized inspections. This includes assessments related to borings, test pits, earth retaining structures (both temporary and permanent), soil and rock evaluations, deep and shallow foundations, adherence to construction plans and specifications, and coordination with subconsultants in the field.

This role primarily operates from our South Plainfield, NJ office, with occasional travel required within the tri-state area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize laboratory and field equipment to assess soil conditions and properties.
  • Conduct geotechnical field investigations and oversee construction inspections.
  • Compile detailed daily site inspection reports based on completed field operations.
  • Engage in technical research and employ computer tools to devise solutions for engineering challenges, including geotechnical evaluations, calculation documentation, and detailed reporting.
  • Draft technical reports, compose memos, and present engineering solutions and recommendations.
  • Develop geotechnical designs and solutions from initial concepts to final design stages.
  • Maintain and foster client relationships.
  • Manage project budgets related to field inspections and design initiatives.
  • Oversee field testing and data collection processes.
  • Collaborate with a diverse team of professionals, including engineers, designers, technicians, permit specialists, planners, and architects.
  • Supervise field staff and review their documentation and reports.
  • Delegate tasks efficiently among team members.
  • Provide training for entry-level staff.
  • Coordinate field personnel management.
  • Engage in proposal writing and review, including subcontractor pricing.
  • Prepare scopes, budgets, and schedules for various assignments.
  • Procure subcontractors for support during geotechnical investigations and design.
  • Review and approve contracts with subconsultants and vendors.
  • Develop project timelines and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Prepare and review drawing sets and calculation packages.
  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control of drawings, calculations, and reports.
  • Approve time and expense reports for field staff.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or a related engineering field; a Master's degree is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Professional Engineering license (P.E.) is required.
  • A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in design software tools, including Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD.
  • Experience with gINT geotechnical engineering software.
  • Familiarity with LRFD/ASD design and complex analysis software such as RISA, DeepXcav, and AllPile.
  • Knowledge of Deltek accounting software.
  • Experience analyzing below-grade walls, retaining structures, and foundations.
  • Experience conducting geotechnical and construction special inspections.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with engineers, management, clients, and contractors.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong design capabilities.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are necessary.

Compensation:

  • Base salary ranging from $100,000 to $130,000.
  • Comprehensive benefits package.
