Job Overview: The Orthopedics Program at Children's stands out as the only nationally recognized program of its kind for children and adolescents in Georgia, and it is the premier program in the Southeast.

We focus on both medical and surgical interventions for conditions and injuries affecting the musculoskeletal system.

As an Advanced Practice Provider, your responsibilities will include: delivering comprehensive care at an advanced practice level to children and their families through assessment, effective communication, clinical management, collaboration, coordination, education, program development, research, quality improvement, professional growth, and system participation.

This position is located within Children's Orthopedics and Sports Medicine.

Experience: No minimum experience required.
Preferred Qualifications: 2 years of experience in pediatric healthcare preferred; Doctorate degree in Nursing Practice or Master's or Doctorate degree in Medical Science.
Education: Master's degree in nursing or bachelor's degree in medical science.
Certification Summary: Licensure as a Registered Nurse in Georgia or Multi-State through the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact, and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) licensure in Georgia, or licensure as a Physician Assistant in Georgia. Certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by recognized bodies, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 60 days of hire for specific roles.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Proficient understanding of Georgia's Scope of Practice for Nurse Practitioners and/or Physician Assistants, Joint Commission regulatory requirements, and the Credentialing process. Excellent communication (written, spoken & presentation), organizational, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrates integrity, collaborative behavior, flexibility, and adaptability to change.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical: Provide comprehensive patient care management within a collaborative practice model for children of all ages under the supervision of the collaborating physician, adhering to state statutes and organizational bylaws in both inpatient and outpatient settings.


This includes:


Conducting thorough histories and physical examinations, identifying normal and abnormal findings, including physical, cognitive, and psychosocial status; Ordering and interpreting laboratory and diagnostic tests; Developing treatment plans that include both pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical options; Serving as an educational resource for patients, families, healthcare professionals, and students; Facilitating patient referrals to other medical providers and services as necessary; Collaborating and consulting with physicians and other healthcare providers as appropriate.
Professional Development: Acknowledge the significance of involvement in professional organizations; Accept responsibility for ongoing professional development and maintenance of credentials; Engage in self-evaluation of advanced practice skills to ensure competent clinical care and continued self-improvement; Assist in developing educational resources for the department/practice.
Quality and Evidence-Based Practice: Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives based on professional practice standards; Comply with hospital and departmental policies; Support adherence to National Patient Safety Goals related to applicable administrative Joint Commission standards.
