Specialized Pavement Marking, Inc. is seeking a skilled Highway Painter and Striper to join our team. As a key member of our crew, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient movement of traffic on our nation's highways and roadways.
Key Responsibilities- Layout and Painting: Apply protective and decorative coatings and materials, lines, arrows, bumpers, and curbs to roadways and highways.
- Traffic Sign Installation: Handle, paint, and install traffic regulatory warning and guide signs, as well as other types of signs and devices installed for traffic regulation.
- Temporary and Permanent Traffic Delineation: Install temporary and permanent traffic delineating devices, including striping, thermoplastics, plural component materials, and traffic tapes.
- Surface Preparation and Maintenance: Prepare and maintain road surfaces, including sandblasting, water blasting, shot blasting, and grinding.
- Equipment Operation: Operate vehicles and machinery in conjunction with performing the above work.
- Traffic Control: Control traffic incidental to the above work.
- CDL A or B: Possess a valid CDL A or B license, or be able to obtain one within 1 year.
- Education: Hold a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Driver's License: Possess a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Hand Tool Experience: Have experience using and operating hand tools.
- Travel: Be willing to travel, including overnight or longer.
- Physical Demands: Ability to walk long distances, stand for long periods, bend over frequently, and perform tasks that include lifting, carrying 50+ pounds, pushing, and pulling 100 pounds.
- Previous Experience: Have previous experience performing traffic control striping or mechanical work.
Work outdoors, driving to and from job sites and/or yards to load equipment and material. Exposure to various weather conditions, dust, fumes, and hazardous materials such as solvents, adhesives, paints, hot oil, and other chemicals. Work in and around traffic, with vehicles coming from all directions. Must remain alert and familiar with the job site.
Work 10+ hour days and 40+ hour weeks, including nights, weekends, and travel time, as needed.
