About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Education Teacher to join our team at Houston County Schools. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing specialized instruction to students with disabilities, ensuring they achieve success in the educational setting.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Classroom Instruction
  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for each student on your caseload, incorporating best practices in teaching and learning.
  • Cultivate a safe and inclusive learning environment that fosters academic growth and social development.
Collaboration and Communication
  • Maintain effective communication with parents, administrators, and colleagues to ensure seamless support for students.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay updated on special education policies and procedures.
Assessment and Progress Monitoring
  • Evaluate student progress regularly, making data-driven decisions to inform instructional strategies and interventions.
  • Document and communicate student progress to parents and other stakeholders as needed.
Requirements
  1. Education and Certification
  • Hold a valid Georgia professional teaching certificate in Special Education or a related field.
  • Possess a Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field, with a master's degree preferred.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of special education laws and regulations, including IEP development and implementation.
  • Exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Showcase a passion for teaching and learning, with a commitment to ongoing professional growth and development.
Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $60,000 - $80,000 per year, commensurate with experience, plus benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
