About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Modeling and Simulation Analyst to join our team at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). As an AFSIM Analyst, you will play a critical role in developing models and performing analysis on sensor, tracker, communication, and weapon systems for mission-level simulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement models and simulations using AFSIM to analyze complex systems and identify trends and patterns.
  • Perform statistical analysis to assess risk and document uncertainties in simulation results.
  • Collaborate with our software development team to improve our custom tools and automate production analysis pipelines.
  • Work with a small team to guide the direction of projects and engage in independent research projects.
  • Present your work through briefings to technical specialists and decision-makers.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or scientific field such as Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, or another related discipline.
  • At least two years of experience working with AFSIM to conduct modeling, simulation, and analysis.
  • Experience conducting statistical analysis to identify trends and draw conclusions.
  • Highly skilled in learning new and challenging topics.
  • Ability to effectively work in a highly collaborative environment and communicate complex ideas to a variety of partners.
  • Proficient to fluent in a programming or scripting language such as MATLAB or Python.
  • Ability to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by start date and ultimately obtain a Top Secret level clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree or PhD in a technical or scientific field such as Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, or another related discipline.
  • Knowledge in Air or Surface Warfare domains.
  • Active Top Secret security clearance.
