Endoscopy Technician

The Endoscopy Tech reports to the Endoscopy Supervisor and/or Director, demonstrating technical abilities in assigned duties and working well with medical and nursing staff.

• Assists with setting up equipment prior to endoscopic procedures, reporting any issues to the charge nurse or manager.
• Prepares patients for procedures, assists RNs with attaching patients to monitors, and applies O2 as needed.
• Troubleshoots problems with endoscopes and follows established guidelines for cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilization.
• Performs daily maintenance checks of endoscopes and maintains logs for scope processing.
• Assists with maintaining physical and environmental care between and after procedures.
• Assists with inventory and ordering supplies, informing supervisors of needed equipment or supplies.
• Stocks rooms daily and assists with obtaining carts, films, supplies, and equipment as needed.
• Reports to the endoscopy area daily and accepts on-call assignments as directed.
• Assists physicians during procedures as directed.

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology or two years of current experience as a tech in Endoscopy Department preferred.
• Good communication skills and critical thinking with the ability to problem solve.
• Current BLS certifications through ILCOR-approved courses.

Must possess good physical health, with requirements including standing, sitting, or walking for long periods, lifting at least 50 pounds, and working with a moderate level of noise.
