Within the Western Digital Platforms Business Unit, the Applications Engineering team is dedicated to providing systems, performance, application, and solutions engineering expertise to drive product development, enhance product visibility, support sales initiatives, and facilitate end customer solution development and implementation.
Key Responsibilities
Embrace a diverse array of responsibilities and challenges.
Primarily, you will bolster our Platforms portfolio by offering advanced technical expertise and thought leadership, thereby influencing the technical and business strategy of the Platforms Business Unit.
Promote products at industry events, trade shows, seminars, and customer briefings.
Establish strong collaborations with our technical and strategic partners, professional networks, and clients while coordinating internal teams to achieve business objectives.
Possess extensive experience and comprehensive knowledge of prevalent industry storage applications (e.g., scale-out filesystems, databases, object storage, hypervisors, composability frameworks), as well as distributed storage and deployment architectures.
Stay informed about the latest technological advancements in enterprise storage and maintain a deep understanding of system architectures and high-speed communication interface protocols such as SAS and NVMe-oF (RoCE and TCP) along with their supporting technologies.
Ideally, you will have practical experience with GPU architectures such as NVIDIA CUDA and GPUDirect Storage, including relevant benchmarking tools (e.g., MLPerf).
Serve as a subject matter expert for new composable infrastructure products, educating clients and partners on distinguishing product technologies.
Support clients with evaluations, benchmarks, system configurations, and installations.
Provide feedback from partners, clients, and subject matter experts to internal teams to aid in defining new products, product enhancements, and technical documentation.
Contribute to the creation of technical documentation on best practices, proof-of-concept designs, and performance benchmarking methodologies.
Monitor market trends, customer needs, and competitor activities, offering strategies to counter competitive threats.
Become an expert in product utilization and stay updated with technological advancements.
Engage in the formulation and execution of product positioning and messaging.
Participate in the development of impactful sales tools.
Engage in collaborative presentations with sales for key clients, demonstrating the ability to manage complex discussions with both technical and non-technical stakeholders through excellent presentation, explanation, and expectation management skills.
By leading by example, mentoring, and guiding junior team members, you will uphold a culture of continuous learning and development within the Applications Engineering team.
