Responsibilities
  • Assist attorneys with all aspects of estate planning and elder law, including drafting wills, trusts, powers of attorney, health care directives, and other legal documents.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare legal documents and pleadings for court filings.
  • Manage a caseload of estate planning and elder law cases, ensuring all deadlines are met.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, court personnel, and other professionals.
  • Prepare and file Medicaid applications, and assist clients with the Medicaid process.
  • Coordinate with care managers, social workers, and other professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for our clients.
  • Maintain client files and case management systems, ensuring all information is accurate and up-to-date.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a paralegal, with a focus on estate planning and elder law.
  • Calendaring experience.
  • Guardianship experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of Medicaid processes and policies.
  • Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies, Law, or a related field. A paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program is a plus.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools and software, such as Westlaw or LexisNexis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts to clients clearly and understandably.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously.
  • High level of professionalism and confidentiality, with a commitment to providing exceptional client service.
