The following outlines the essential responsibilities and qualifications for the MRI Imaging Specialist role.
This position is designed to ensure that the individual is clinically proficient and capable of delivering high-quality patient care in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide direct patient care, adhering to established protocols and standards.
2. Administer contrast agents and intravenous therapies as per organizational guidelines.
3. Execute provider orders accurately and in a timely manner.
4. Maintain effective communication with patients, their families, and the healthcare team.
5. Document patient interactions and care in compliance with institutional standards.
6. Ensure adherence to ASRT, ARMRIT, and ARRT standards of practice.
7. Work independently and be available for emergency standby coverage during off-hours and weekends.
8. Maintain a safe and organized environment for both patients and staff.
9. Ensure proper storage and organization of medical supplies and equipment.
10. Participate in the economical use of resources and maintain equipment in a clean and safe condition.
Patient Interaction - Demonstrate empathy and respect for patient confidentiality while providing assistance.
Answer inquiries and facilitate effective communication.
Team Collaboration - Assist in training new staff members and foster a cooperative work environment.
Be proactive in supporting colleagues and adapting to staffing needs.
Problem Resolution - Utilize sound judgment in addressing concerns and follow proper reporting procedures for incidents.
Document maintenance needs for equipment promptly.
Efficiency and Productivity - Adapt to changing priorities and minimize non-productive time by engaging in preparatory activities.
Professional Development - Attend mandatory training sessions and participate in continuing education to maintain required competencies.
Compliance - Understand and adhere to all relevant policies and procedures to ensure efficient operations.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Completion of a formal Radiologic Technology or MRI Technology training program.
- Minimum one (1) year of relevant experience preferred.
- Current ARRT or ARMRIT certification required, with a preference for MR certification.
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
Skills
- Demonstrated technical proficiency in administering treatments and procedures.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to manage emergency situations effectively.
Physical Requirements
- This role requires physical stamina, including standing, walking, and lifting patients and equipment.
- Vision capabilities must include close, distance, and color vision.
