Job Title: Standby Cover Driver, CDL

We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Standby Cover Driver, CDL to join our team at the Dallas Independent School District. As a key member of our transportation team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe transportation of students and staff to and from school and related activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate a bus safely and efficiently, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
  • Develop and maintain a positive and respectful relationship with students, staff, and parents.
  • Ensure the bus is clean and well-maintained, reporting any maintenance issues to the transportation supervisor.
  • Follow all district policies and procedures, including the Dallas ISD Driver Code of Conduct.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers, supervisors, and other team members to ensure smooth operations.
  • Assist with loading and unloading students, and provide support to students with special needs.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
  • Accredited High School Diploma or equivalent (U.S.A. equivalency) preferred.
  • Texas Commercial Driver's License (Class A or B) with Passenger (P) and School (S) endorsements.
  • Ability to pass U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) alcohol and drug tests and annual physical exam.
  • Meet all state (TEA) qualifications for school bus drivers.
  • Good judgment in decision-making, problem-solving, and communication skills.
