About ACI Federal Defunct, a leading provider of healthcare transformation solutions, we are seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team.

This role involves performing a comprehensive range of sterile techniques, including setting up surgical trays, preparing patients for surgery, and assisting with post-operative care.

Responsibilities include maintaining surgical packs, cleaning clinical spaces and equipment, promptly reporting events, and supporting surgical procedures in various complexities.

The position entails caring for critically ill patients, ensuring a prepared operating room, safe patient transport, maintaining cleanliness, and responding to emergencies.

Additionally, the role encompasses maintaining aseptic procedures, assisting during surgery, monitoring patients, organizing the post-surgery environment, and collaborating with the surgical team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients by actively participating in cleaning clinical spaces, operating rooms, and medical equipment.
  • Immediately report events to the registered nurse or officer in charge and document notification.
  • Support surgical procedures in the operating room, ranging from routine to complex or trauma cases, as a vital member of the surgical team.
  • Care for critically ill patients, following preoperative plans and ensuring the operating room is ready for surgery.
  • Safely transport patients to the operating room, ensuring preoperative requirements are met and providing comfort to anxious patients.
  • Ensure clean operating rooms, set up equipment, anticipate surgeon's needs, and respond to emergencies, adapting quickly to individual patient situations.
  • Maintain aseptic procedures, assist during surgery, monitor patients, and respond swiftly to complications, working seamlessly with the surgical team.
  • Clean and organize the operating room post-surgery, manage supplies, perform basic equipment maintenance, and assist the Operating Room Nurse with supply management.

Requirements:

  • One year of experience as a Surgical Technician or Operating Room Technician required.
  • Graduate from a Surgical Technology program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or completion of a formal training program provided by any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces (Army, Navy, Air Force) for surgical technicians, surgical technologists, or operating room technicians required.
  • Certified as a Surgical Technologist (CST) from The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or certified as a Tech-in-Surgery (TS-C) from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) or possess a Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) certification as a surgical technician and/or operating room technician required.

Work Environment:

This is a full-time position with normal duty hours from Monday to Friday.

Federal Holidays are considered work days.

Not included in, or billable as work hours are lunch/break periods, vacation/sick leave (80 hours), and continuing medical education (CME) training attendance (up to 40 hours per year per FTE).
