Role Summary and Responsibilities
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides high-quality, patient-focused care by performing various essential patient care tasks associated with common nursing functions and daily living activities.
Under the guidance of a registered nurse (RN), the PCT assists the nursing team in delivering patient care according to their skills and the needs of the department, while also helping to maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment for patient care.
Key Responsibilities:- Participate in implementing nursing care plans by delivering both direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of licensed nursing staff.
- Collect and document initial and ongoing patient information, including vital signs and other relevant data.
- Assist with patient mobility, including turning, positioning, and ambulating patients.
- Support patient discharges and demonstrate proper body mechanics.
- Assist in collecting specimens for diagnostic tests and ensure proper labeling and timely transfer.
- Help patients with daily living activities such as eating, bathing, and grooming.
- Engage in best practices that enhance patient experiences, including safety rounding and effective communication.
Basic Cardiac Life Support certification is required within 30 days of employment. Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training must be completed within 90 days. Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification is also required.
