About the Role

Austin Industrial is seeking an experienced Millwright to join our team in Houston, TX. As a Millwright, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining heavy machinery and equipment in industrial settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install and repair machinery and equipment, ensuring proper alignment and operation.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including lubrication and inspection of equipment.
  • Assemble and install new equipment, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Position steel beams and support bedplates for machinery and equipment.
  • Signal crane operators to lower equipment into place.
  • Adjust and align moving parts, using measuring instruments and hand tools.
  • Move machinery and equipment, using hoists, dollies, and rollers.
  • Attach moving parts and subassemblies to basic assembly units.
  • Assemble machines, bolt, weld, and rivet them to foundations or other structures.
  • Lay out mounting holes and drill them with power drills.
  • Bolt parts, such as side and deck plates, jaw plates, and journals, to basic assembly units.
  • Level bedplates and establish centerlines, using straightedges, levels, and transits.
  • Dismantle machines and equipment, using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools.
  • Shrink-fit bushings, sleeves, rings, liners, gears, and wheels to specified items, using portable gas heating equipment.
  • Construct foundations for machines, using hand tools and building materials.
  • Operate engine lathes to grind, file, and turn machine parts to dimensional specifications.
Requirements
  • 5 years of Journeyman-level experience in millwrighting or a related field.
  • NCCER certification, a valid driver's license, and a TWIC card.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds, and to work in a fast-paced industrial environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
