Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at Santa Fe County. As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will contribute to the nursing process through systematic data collection, assisting in the health assessment, recording observations, and patient health education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contributes to the nursing assessment by initiating the admission process and assisting with the identification of recurrent health problems, symptoms, and behavioral changes of the patient.
  • Collects pertinent data through observation, interview other members of the health team, and communicates changes in the patient condition to other patient care providers.
  • Records all data obtained through assessment in the patient's health record.
  • Assists in the formation of a written plan and identifies both short and long-term timed measurable goals with anticipated behavioral changes.
  • Assists with patient healthcare and participates in multi-disciplinary care conferences.
  • Counts CDS drugs and contraband, if required, and transcribes and posts all therapeutic orders generated by the physician.
  • Administers routine and/or PRN medications as ordered.
  • Practices universal precautions when providing nursing procedures and assists in maintaining a neat, clean, and safe environment for patients and coworkers.

Requirements:

  • Graduate from a Licensed Practical Nursing Program and currently licensed as a Practical Nurse in the State.
  • Ability to effectively interact with others, communicate verbally, and react quickly and appropriately to emergency situations.

Working Conditions:

The Licensed Practical Nurse will work in a detention center setting with frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, lifting (25 lbs. max.), and dragging up to 175 lbs. The incumbent will be subject to random pat-down searches and may be required to work evening and weekend hours.
