About the Role

Stantec is seeking a highly motivated Senior Geologist/Engineer to join our growing Environmental Assessment and Remediation team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supporting various clients in the Mid-Atlantic region, collaborating with our multi-disciplinary staff on a variety of projects, and actively pursuing new opportunities to grow the team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Execution: Organize and manage a variety of environmental investigation and remediation tasks such as ground water monitoring, soil boring/well installations, operation and maintenance, and other activities.
  • Project Management: Responsibilities will include a mix of office and field-based tasks and will include project execution, budgeting, scheduling, contracting, personnel supervision, compliance monitoring, data analysis/reduction, and technical reporting.
  • Reporting and Data Analysis: Reporting and data reduction tasks may include preparation of site maps, soil boring logs, well construction diagrams, geologic cross sections, potentiometric surface maps, and groundwater flow models.
  • Field-Based Tasks: Field-based tasks will include coordination, supervision and execution of work that includes, but is not limited to, collecting soil, sediment, water and air samples; overseeing drilling of soil borings and installation of monitoring wells; performing hydraulic conductivity tests; excavation monitoring; use of instrumentation; overseeing subcontractors; and coordinating complex field tasks with multiple staff and subcontractors.
  • Environmental Assessments: Conduct Phase I Environmental Assessments and Preliminary Assessments.
  • Health and Safety: Complete applicable company and client-required health & safety training (including OSHA-required training) and follow health & safety policies and procedures.
  • Standards and Guidelines: Follow established standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines to complete assignments.
  • Team Support: This position is within a larger environmental services team and will likely require providing support to multiple Stantec offices.
  • Travel: Some travel may be required.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor degree in Geology/ Engineering/ Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Experience: 10+ years of progressively more responsible environmental assessment and remediation work experience.
  • Certifications: 40-hour HAZWOPER (OSHA Hazardous Worker) certification and current 8-hour refresher certification are desired. Professional Geologist (PG) or Professional Engineer (PE) certification is preferred.
