Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Emergency Department Technician to join our team at Ascension Genesys. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist professional nurses with medical screening of incoming emergency patients, ensuring timely and accurate assessment of patient needs.
  • Obtain and document patient vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature, and report any changes or abnormalities to the RN.
  • Provide assistance with transporting patients, transferring patients to/from carts or wheelchairs, and ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  • Perform EKGs as directed, provide report to RN and/or ED physician immediately for evaluation, and apply cardiac monitor electrodes to patients.
  • Assist with patient care for life or limb threatened emergency patients, as directed by RN, and promote a safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Participate in mandatory in-services, continuing education, and relevant meetings to maintain and improve understanding of present and future trends in healthcare.
Requirements
  • Certified BLS Provider specializing in Basic Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Licensed Emergency Medical Tech credentialed from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) required. Advanced licensure preferred.
  • Must have knowledge of human physiology/biology, patient care procedures, BLS, medical equipment, and medical terminology at a level acquired through completion of an accredited emergency medical technician program.
Working Conditions

The Emergency Department Technician will work in a fast-paced patient care environment with moderate exposure to excessive noises, dust, temperatures, frequent exposure to communicable disease, hazardous wastes, and moderately adverse working conditions.
