Position Overview

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a vital role in supporting Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers within a clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities:

- Rooming patients and documenting medical histories in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
- Administering injections and managing patient communications.
- Assisting with medical procedures, including the application and removal of casts, as well as educating patients on the use of Durable Medical Equipment (DME).

- Ensuring the upkeep of medical equipment, supplies, and examination rooms.

Core Job Functions:

- Welcoming patients, completing the check-in process, and addressing general inquiries.
- Managing phone calls and scheduling appointments, including follow-ups.
- Processing referrals and preparing charts for new and returning patients.

- Verifying that all necessary patient forms are completed and entered into the system.
- Responsible for locating and organizing medical charts, including filing and purging as needed.
- Checking charts for progress notes and urgent orders, preparing charge tickets accordingly.
- Handling medical records requests and documenting patient attendance.
- Maintaining the patient waiting area and ensuring cleanliness.
- Collecting co-pays and balancing the cash drawer.
- Coordinating outside testing and obtaining necessary authorizations from insurance providers.

- Providing support across various office functions as required.
- Monitoring and maintaining front office equipment, and ordering necessary supplies.
- Cleaning, sterilizing, and restocking examination rooms and equipment.

- Ensuring all clinical areas are kept clean and well-stocked, while adhering to budget constraints.


- Assisting physicians and physician assistants with specialized procedures, preparing necessary instruments, and positioning patients as directed.

- Preparing X-ray orders per physician guidelines and facilitating patient transport to Radiology.

- Completing laboratory requisitions and arranging specimen transport as needed.
- Conducting suture, staple, and dressing removals; applying and removing casts and splints.
- Educating patients on DME usage and preparing injections as per physician orders.

- Ensuring patients receive necessary discharge instructions and follow-up appointment details.

- Coordinating timely transport of patients' X-ray films for follow-up visits.

- Providing patient education on the physician's care plan through handouts and demonstrations.
- Ensuring accurate charge ticket documentation for injections and equipment provided to patients.
- Participating in in-services and departmental meetings.

A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of relevant experience is preferred; prior experience in a medical office setting is advantageous.

Certifications/Licenses/Registrations:
A current and valid license to practice Practical Nursing in the State of Ohio is required. Authorization to administer medications as per The State of Ohio Board of Nursing. BLS certification is required within three (3) months of hire.

Schedule:
Monday-Friday; 8AM-5PM

Status:
Full-Time, 40 hours per week
