About the Position

Ohio University is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Graduate Assistant to join the Multicultural Center team. This exciting opportunity offers a chance to work with a diverse group of students, faculty, and staff to promote inclusivity and diversity on campus.

Job Summary

The Graduate Assistant will be responsible for supporting the mission of the Multicultural Center by working closely with student scholars, advising them on academic and personal success, and developing programming to promote access, retention, and student success. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be able to work independently and as part of a team, and demonstrate a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion.

About the Salary

The successful candidate will receive a stipend of $13,000 for the fall and spring semesters, plus a tuition waiver for partnering programs. This graduate assistantship position offers a paid stipend and provides opportunities for professional development and growth.

Responsibilities
  • Work with the LINKS Program to support first-year students in navigating the college experience and promoting access, retention, and student success.
  • Provide one-on-one support to student scholars, helping them craft a pathway for academic and personal success.
  • Maintain accurate and timely meeting records on individual students and support the recruitment and selection of MCC scholarship prospects.
  • Assist in planning and implementing programs, working collaboratively with staff, student staff, academic units, student organizations, and university departments.
  • Establish and maintain weekly or bi-weekly supervisory meetings with staff and participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
