Job Summary:

Sterile Processing Technicians play a vital role in ensuring the highest level of patient care by preparing and sterilizing medical instruments and equipment. As a Sterile Processing Technician, you will be responsible for decontaminating, cleaning, and sterilizing surgical instruments, power equipment, and endoscopes. You will also prepare and package instrumentation, perform quality control testing, and maintain records of sterilization equipment. Additionally, you may be assigned to stock supplies, clean the department, answer phones, transport supplies, train peers on industry best practices, and provide direct customer service to operating rooms and external customers.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Decontaminate, clean, and sterilize surgical instruments, power equipment, and endoscopes
  • Prepare and package instrumentation for use in surgical procedures
  • Perform quality control testing and monitoring of sterilization equipment
  • Maintain accurate records of sterilization equipment and processes
  • Stock supplies, clean the department, and perform other tasks as assigned
  • Provide direct customer service to operating rooms and external customers

Requirements:
  • Associate's Degree or High School Diploma/GED
  • Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions and perform basic mathematical calculations
  • Working knowledge of AAMI and AORN standards

Work Environment:

This is a variable shift position with 24 scheduled weekly hours. The department is Sterile Processing, and the work environment is fast-paced and dynamic.
