Your Role

We are seeking a dedicated Environmental Geoscientist to join our team. Engage in impactful projects with our Earth & Environment Team and contribute to a dynamic organization that aligns with client goals and resolves their challenges. As part of our professional consulting services, your responsibilities will encompass assisting in the development of processes and infrastructure related to water supply, wastewater management, waste disposal, air quality control, and environmental preservation. You will be tasked with generating precise reports and documentation regarding field conditions while evaluating and advising on ecological and human health risks. Your commitment to quality will ensure that all responsibilities meet or exceed industry standards.

Your Contributions
  • Collaborate with the Earth and Environment Team to provide guidance and maintain client relationships.
  • Act as Project Hydrogeologist for ongoing and future initiatives, working closely with clients to establish strategic project directions.
  • Independently oversee and execute projects to adhere to compliance timelines.
  • Conduct moderately complex technical tasks within a broad scope, planning and coordinating project work for extensive assignments.
  • Prepare technical proposals and reports tailored to the complexity of the project.
  • Exhibit proficiency in field supervision, technical knowledge, and task management.
  • Inspire, train, and mentor junior staff assigned to your projects.
  • Expect approximately 80% office work and 20% fieldwork across various projects, including those involving environmental contamination.
  • Compile Remedial Investigation reports, Remedial/Corrective Action Plans, and related documentation.
  • Develop components of investigation and engineering reports, including summaries, data analyses, calculations, tables, figures, and report narratives.
  • Provide technical evaluations and recommendations.
  • Serve as the primary contact for subcontractors and guide junior staff in field activities.
  • Organize fieldwork, assign tasks, and offer direction to specialists.
  • Assist in procuring subcontractors.
  • Oversee drilling operations and soil excavation activities.
  • Review contractor submissions, including equipment and work plans.
  • Manage payment applications and general construction phase submissions.
  • Travel to project sites as necessary, which may include overnight stays.
Qualifications

Essential
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in geology, hydrogeology, or environmental engineering.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong computer and writing skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to engage with regulatory agencies, stakeholders, and clients effectively.
  • Flexibility to work schedules that meet project-specific requirements.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
  • Excellent time management and compliance tracking skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work independently with a high level of initiative and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in technical and business writing, as well as office automation tools.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to WSP's health and safety policies.
Preferred
  • Professional Geologist (P.G.) or Certified Professional Geologist (CPG) designation, or willingness to obtain.
  • OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour training in accordance with regulations.
