Job SummaryWilliams County is seeking a highly skilled Surveyor to join our team in the Transportation Construction department. As a Surveyor, you will be responsible for performing advanced technical work, including field inspections, topographic surveys, and research in support of highway maintenance projects.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct field surveys and submit horizontal and vertical control information
- Supervise the work of Survey Technicians
- Process topographic surveys using Civil 3D
- Collect field data; enter and update data in Trimble Business Center (TBC)
- Perform field checks and staking of construction projects
- Research easements, documents, and landowner information
- Respond to requests for maps and records
- Assist with paving and construction project inspections
- Communicate with contractors regarding construction projects
- Maintain accurate daily diaries detailing construction activities
- Ensure survey vehicle is stocked with equipment to complete daily tasks
- Ensure vehicles and equipment are well-maintained; report any damage or issues immediately
- Follow all traffic laws and safety regulations on roadways and work sites, report safety hazards and traffic problems
- Maintain confidentiality of non-public records and make available all data and information deemed a public record by the North Dakota Century Code.
- Associate Degree in Surveying, Engineering, or related field AND two (2) years of surveying or transportation construction work experience OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Must possess a valid North Dakota Driver's License or equivalent
- Must pass a background check and pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
- Work is performed in an office setting and an outdoor environment with exposure to extreme temperatures and inclement weather
- Some work is performed on construction sites with exposure to uneven ground, loud noises, chemicals, and construction equipment
- Must be able to lift/carry 50lbs
