The Structural Analyst will be integrated into a specialized team of engineers and technicians responsible for the design, production, testing, and deployment of cutting-edge defense systems.

These systems encompass, but are not limited to, directed energy air defense systems, missile launch platforms, small munitions, avionics, and mobile power solutions.


Key Responsibilities:


The Structural Analyst will employ analytical techniques, finite element models/simulations, and various analysis tools to create models, conduct analyses, perform calculations, reduce data, and correlate test outcomes for structures and/or structural dynamics.


This role requires close collaboration with design and manufacturing teams to develop designs that satisfy rigorous performance, manufacturability, and scheduling requirements.


Essential Qualifications:


Applicants must hold a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field from an ABET-accredited institution with a GPA of 3.5 or higher.


Candidates should possess a minimum of 8 years of experience in stress analysis within the industry (or 6 years with a Master's degree).

Experience with commercial finite element analysis tools (e.g., FEMAP/NX NASTRAN, PATRAN/MSC NASTRAN, ANSYS, Abaqus, etc.) is required.


Candidates must demonstrate the ability to compose technical reports and present data to a multidisciplinary team.


This position necessitates the capability to thrive in a collaborative engineering environment, working closely with cross-functional teams.


Applicants should be adept at functioning as part of a larger analysis team or independently on a project.


Experience in mentoring and guiding junior analysts is essential.


Residency in the North Alabama area or willingness to relocate is required.



Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates with experience and/or knowledge in:


Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field from an ABET-accredited institution with a GPA of 3.5 or higher.


Advanced structural analysis methodologies (Linear contact FEA, Non-linear FEA, Application of non-linear material properties to hand analysis, Integrated multi-physics analysis).


Analysis of bolted joints and welds.


Dynamic analysis (modal, response spectrum, shock, vibration).


Fatigue analysis.


Composite materials.


Thermal analysis.

Compensation for this position is guided by the Leidos pay range, which serves as a general framework and is not a guarantee of salary.
