Job Overview

The Veterinary Technician will work within our AAHA-accredited hospital in Winchester, Virginia, providing exceptional care for an in-house working canine population. This role requires excellent communication skills, adaptability, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Travel may be required, both nationally and internationally, for extended periods in challenging locations.

Responsibilities
  • Treat canines for various diseases/injuries and provide preventative/maintenance care (e.g., vaccinations, laboratory sample collection)
  • Utilize in-house imaging modalities (digital radiographs, ultrasound) to perform studies and assist with interpretation of results
  • Train and present veterinary information to host-nation personnel, canine handlers, trainers, and other stakeholders on injury triage and prevention, zoonoses
  • Maintain veterinary records using a cloud-based electronic medical record system, generate reports, and track necessary data
  • Provide veterinary expertise and inspections for facilities used to kennel Working Dog populations
Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology or current Veterinary Technician Certificate from an accredited university
  • Possess one or more of the following licenses: Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT), Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT)
  • Be a U.S. Citizen and possess a valid U.S. Passport
  • Possess SECRET level clearance or be able to obtain it
  • Minimum two years of experience as a Veterinary Technician in the United States Military or civilian private practice
