Job Summary

Mercy General Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a travel contract. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in respiratory care, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality patient care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and other areas of the hospital
  • Assist with intubation and other respiratory procedures as needed
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized patient care plans
  • Conduct thorough assessments and evaluations of patients' respiratory status
  • Administer aerosol therapy, secretion mobilization, and other respiratory treatments as prescribed
  • Monitor and maintain respiratory equipment, including ventilators and oxygen modalities
  • Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives and contribute to a positive and supportive work environment
Requirements
  • 2 years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
  • Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • California Respiratory License
  • Basic respiratory assessment and treatment skills
  • Aerosol therapy, secretion mobilization, lung expansion, endotracheal tube and tracheostomy management, noninvasive ventilation, oxygen modalities, mechanical ventilation
Work Environment
  • 7-15 RTs per shift
  • Contract worker would never be the only RT present
  • Every Other Weekend (EOW) schedule
  • Holiday requirement
Unit Specific Information
  • NICU trained RRT with experience intubating during deliveries
  • Department: Respiratory Therapy
  • Treatments per day: 30 treatments per 12-hour shift
  • Types of patients: NICU trained, NICU population, may float to other ages
