Principal City Planner

The City of Port Orange is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Urban Planner to join our team. As a key member of our Community Development Department, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of our city through strategic planning, policy development, and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities- Planning and Policy Development: Develop and implement comprehensive plans, policies, and programs that promote sustainable growth, economic development, and community well-being.
- Community Engagement: Foster strong relationships with community stakeholders, including residents, businesses, and civic organizations, to ensure that their needs and concerns are addressed in the planning process.
- Project Management: Manage and coordinate complex planning projects, including land use studies, zoning amendments, and development agreements.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with other city departments, external agencies, and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination on planning-related matters.
- Technical Expertise: Provide technical guidance and support on planning-related issues, including land use regulations, zoning ordinances, and urban design principles.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, City Planning, or a related field.
- Experience: Four years of experience in urban planning, city planning, or a related field, with a proven track record of successful project management and community engagement.
- Certifications: American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification is highly desirable.
- Master's degree in Urban Planning or a related field.
- Experience with GIS mapping and spatial analysis.
- Knowledge of urban design principles and practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
