Nurse Manager

Job Summary:
Advocate Health is seeking a skilled Nurse Manager to lead our clinical team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing direction and oversight to our nursing staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide work direction and coordination to clinical and support staff to ensure efficient patient flow and smooth department operations.
- Support direct patient care by performing the nursing process, delivering safe, therapeutic, and quality care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Coordinate patient care team needs by initiating service complaint follow-up and promoting communication among patients, families, hospital departments, and medical staff.
- Act as a resource to employees, providing training, work direction, and performance input, and assigning, monitoring, and reviewing work progress and accuracy.
- Assist with human resource responsibilities, including interviewing, selection, and resolution of employee concerns.
- Monitor employee assignments, maintain staff scheduling, evaluate staffing levels, and make adjustments as necessary to maintain productivity.
- Monitor the quality of care provided and ensure policies and procedures are followed in compliance with regulatory and peer review agencies.
- Provide input to budget and ensure adequate supplies and equipment are available for patient care and a safe work environment.
- Work with management to develop new and existing programs and services.
Requirements:
- Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which you practice.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
- Typically requires 5 years of experience in clinical nursing within an acute care setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to apply evidence-based interventions and nursing skills/technology to correlate to patient response.
- Ability to recognize situational changes that require unplanned interventions.
- Proficient computer skills, including keyboarding, navigation, and use of electronic medical records systems.
- Excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively make critical, independent decisions and think ahead.
