Job Title: Arborist

Join the University of North Georgia team as an Arborist, responsible for maintaining the health, safety, and attractiveness of trees and woody plants on campus.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct health and risk assessments on campus canopy and specimen trees.
  • Maintain trees and woody plants through pruning, staking, planting, watering, fertilizing, and removal of dead or decaying limbs or trees.
  • Operate basic and mid-sized landscaping equipment, including riding and zero-turn mowers, light tractors and implements, dump trucks, utility vehicles, and wood chippers.
  • Perform preventative and minor corrective maintenance on assigned equipment.
  • Develop tree care plans for the campus and assist in developing or providing input for landscape plans.
  • Assist the grounds crew with lawn care and landscaping as needed.
  • Support event set-up and breakdown.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two years of experience in grounds/landscaping and tree care required.
  • ISA Arborist certification or ability to obtain it within a provisional period.
  • Valid state driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Degree in Environmental Horticulture or Forestry preferred.
Working Conditions:

This position requires the ability to work at heights up to 40 feet, execute work requiring bending and reaching overhead, lift up to 50 pounds, and climb ladders of varying sizes.
