Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Early Head Start Teacher In Training to join our team at Northern Rivers Family of Services. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing a safe, clean, and nurturing learning environment for children.

Key Responsibilities
  • Classroom Management and Teamwork: Demonstrate effective classroom management skills, work collaboratively as part of a team, and maintain accurate records, reports, and data collection.
  • Individualized Curriculum: Develop and implement individualized curriculum based on each child's unique strengths and areas of need.
  • Screenings and Assessments: Conduct screenings and ongoing assessments for assigned children to ensure their developmental progress.
  • Learning Environment: Provide a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate, and use in learning activities and imaginative play.
  • Mealtime and Activities: Supervise and interact with children during family-style mealtimes and activities, promoting socialization and learning.
  • Cultural Sensitivity: Demonstrate respect for families' values, strengths, and culture by welcoming their contributions and participation, and designing learning experiences accordingly.
  • Professional Development: Engage in training and learning opportunities, including those focused on learning and implementing curricula and classroom design and management.
  • Emergency Procedures: Follow established emergency procedures, such as fire drills, shelter-in-place, and intruder protocols, to ensure the safety of children.
Requirements and Education
  • Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED with at least one year of experience working directly with children, or a degree in a related field with at least 6 months of experience working directly with children.
  • Professional Development: Within 60 days of hire, enroll in a program leading to a CDA (Child Development Associate Credential), an Associate's degree, or a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
  • Physical Demands: Be able to lift 25 pounds or more.
